Four Months of Henry
My little spooky,
This month has been full of celebrations and lots of joy! From Sully’s actual birthday to his and Eloise’s joint party to celebrating some important steps in your life, it’s been the best! I’ve been thinking a lot about how you came into our lives-quickly but so naturally. While our knowledge of you happened so quickly and with just a phone call, it also feels like you’ve just been here all along. It feels like you were simply and gently folded into our family, and from now until forever, we’re all mixed together, unable to tell where the line of our lives before you and since you arrived even is. You go with the flow so easily and are just the happiest to be around. We love you big!!
Growth:
When I last took you to the doctor to have some noisy breathing checked out, you weighed 13 pounds. That’s a smaller percentile but you are so long! We go Monday for your check up and it cannot wait to see how much you’ve grown! You outgrew your 3 month clothes almost instantly, only wearing them for a couple of weeks. Now you can fit into 3-6 month clothes.
Just today, you started rolling onto your side! I knew it was coming because you’ve been extra active and swuiggly lately, but to see it just happen was exciting!
Sleep:
I say it every month, but thank you, bud for sleeping so well!! You sleep through the night probably half of the nights and the nights you do wake, it’s just once. Dad and I trade off, so rest really hasn’t been an issue for us! The last two weeks, we’ve been slowly practicing with you taking naps in your crib. We lay you down drowsy and your naps by yourself range from 30 minutes to an hour and a half! When we rock you, you stay asleep forever. I’m still so happy to get to do that, and in fact, I’m rocking you as I type this. You’re so snuggly and wrap your little hand around my shirt. Your cheeks get extra chubby looking and you kind of tuck your bottom lip up when you’re sleeping.
Milk:
For the most part, you’re still rocking the finishing a bottle every 2-3 hours thing. Some days you get a little snacky but that’s almost always in conjunction with a growth spurt.
Favorite Moments:
-you finally got to meet some of our very best friends! You got to meet Mrs. Meri-Ann and Mrs. Emily when you went to Oktoberfest with me and Dad. Then, our best friends from NJ flew all the way back here to come to your siblings’ party, and you got to meet them! You fit perfectly into the crazy “Monday crew.”
-a hike was the activity Sully chose for his birthday, and it was the most fun! Dad and I took turns wearing you while the other wore Eloise. The weather was beautiful and it was a sweet morning just spending time together.
-school days: on days Sully has school, it’s just you, me, and Eloise. While we miss Sully, it’s a really precious time with just y’all. Sometimes we go on walks, sometimes we play upstairs, and sometimes we just snuggle and watch Moana together in the chair. I don’t ever want to be so busy that I can’t spend individual time with each of you, so it’s a nice practice to slow down and just hang with y’all.
-the pumpkin patch was a fun afternoon! Brittany and Alex met us there which always makes things extra fun! What made the day special for me was that it was all about pumpkins. The day we met you, you had on a pumpkin hat, even though it was July. Because of that, you’ll always be my pumpkin. Today, dad and the big kids carved those pumpkins while you took a nap. I love seeing there pumpkins on the fire place
Aside from the spooky, gross parts, I hope that much like Jason Voorhees, you are a mama’s boy.
Love,
Mom
